NBPAS Data Privacy Policy

1. NBPAS Commitment to Privacy

NBPAS respects your privacy and acknowledges the sensitivity of personal information. We have created this data privacy policy to address any questions or concerns you may have. This privacy policy describes our policies and practices regarding collection and use of your personal data and sets forth your privacy rights. We recognize that information privacy is an ongoing responsibility and we will update this policy as needed.

2. Collection and Storage of Personal Data

We collect personal data for multiple reasons and in order to provide you with necessary application and diplomate-related services. These services include correspondence, application processing, credential verification, and detailed service provisions. We are committed to ensuring that the information we collect and use is appropriate for these purposes.

3. Information Collected

When you submit a new or renewal application, you will be asked to submit certain information including: name, addresses, email address, phone numbers, birthdate, gender, education, licensure information, NPI number, board certifications, CME documentation, and other demographic information. We use this information to collect and process your application.

4. Information Usage

NBPAS will process (collect, store and use) your information to provide services on our website, and other communications. We will endeavor to keep your information accurate and up to date, and not keep it for longer than is necessary. Once collected, we may use your personal information to:

  • Process, fulfill, and follow up on your applications
  • Deliver NBPAS services such as newsletters, publications, or webinars
  • Provide access to Diplomate-only website content
  • Answer your emails or on-line requests
  • Send information you requested and verify your current information
  • Send and process surveys
  • Alert you to important news or events
  • Invite you to apply for or renew your certification
  • Notify you about new products/services, special offers, and other related information from NBPAS, and approved third parties
  • Ensure NBPAS sites and services are relevant to your needs

Members may contact NBPAS at info@nbpas.org at any time to change, add, or remove personal contact information.

5. Information Sharing

Information provided by you or related to your membership and purchases is maintained in association with your membership or profile account.

NBPAS occasionally engages other companies to provide limited services on behalf of diplomates including, but not limited to, processing payment card transactions, mailing and delivering certificates, email distribution, website and systems hosting, and data storage. We only provide those companies with access to information as is required to deliver the service provided.

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

NBPAS does not share personal information with unaffiliated third parties.

On occasion, NBPAS may provide verification of your information to a third party under specific circumstances. Those circumstances include when: (1) verification of certification; (2) authorized by you; (3) permitted under this Privacy Policy; (4) required by statute, regulation, or court order; or (5) in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with certification requirements provided by NBPAS; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of NBPAS; (c) protect the personal safety of NBPAS personnel or members of the public in urgent circumstances; or (d) enforce the NBPAS Privacy Policy or Terms of Use.

7. Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

NBPAS and our third-party partners, such as our advertising and analytics partners, use cookies and other tracking technologies (e.g., web beacons, device identifiers and pixels) to provide functionality and to recognize you across different services and devices or sites.

8. Correspondence

If you correspond with us by email, the postal service, or other form of communication, we may retain such correspondence and the information contained within and use it to respond to your inquiry; to notify you of products or services, publications, or to keep a record of your correspondence, assistance request, etc. Users may opt out of receiving certain communications by following the unsubscribe process described in an email communication, or by contacting our office at info@nbpas.org.

9. Access to Your Information

We welcome you to contact us regarding the information we have collected about you, including to verify the nature and accuracy of the data collected, to request a modification or deletion of your information, to opt out of certain services, or to withdraw any consent you may have granted. Please note that if you choose to delete your information or opt out of the collection and use of your information, certain features may no longer be available to you.

10. Payment Information

We may collect and securely store information related to purchases, if you choose to purchase goods and services from us. You may provide certain information to complete payments, including your credit or debit card number, card expiration date, CVV code, and billing address (collectively, “Payment Information”), along with your name and billing, and shipping address, to complete payment transactions. Credit card information received via fax, phone, or mail is entered into a secure system and then deleted and destroyed.

11. How to Opt Out of Email

If you do not want to receive emails from NBPAS in the future, please send a request via email to info@nbpas.org or you can unsubscribe directly using a link at the bottom of NBPAS emails.

12. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy will be reviewed and amended as needed. Any changes to our privacy policy will be posted on this page. We reserve the right to amend the Policy at any time, for any reason.
